Sometimes, during the review process, an item will need to be temporarily taken out of the queue to be reviewed by another member of the staff, to get further information, or to resolve a bug. We call these items “held” items, as they’re being held by the review team and can’t be reviewed immediately. This is nothing to worry about, and usually just means a reviewer requires a second opinion or help. For instance, an item might be put on hold because, the reviewer:
- Wants a second opinion on pricing or the appropriate category to put the item in,
- Needs help making the item work correctly in the marketplace system,
- Wants the site manager to review the item because it’s unusual in some way, or
- Wants a reviewer with special skills to review the item if it requires specific knowledge for a proper review.
Items that are held are usually resolved within a day or two, but occasionally an item may be held for a longer period (up to 7 days for a particularly complex issue). Authors whose items are held should not panic or be concerned. Support will be in touch if the issue requires author’s assistance, but otherwise, the review team is just working towards resolving whatever issue has arisen with the item. The review team will always try to resolve any issue as quickly as they can, so you can rest assured your item won’t be held for long.
