The 3D artists who upload the STL files of their 3D printing models on Gambody marketplace work hard to ensure that their designs are detailed enough and interesting to print and paint.
The recommended scale for 3D printing models of huge objects (like Godzilla, for example), is 1/250 of the original size for FFF/FDM versions and 1/500 for DLP/SLA versions. Similarly, for 3D printing models of MechWarriors (BattleTech universe), the scale options are 1/60 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/100 for the DLP/SLA version. Finally, for 3D printing models of human or human-like characters, the scale is 1/8 for FFF/FDM versions and 1/16 for DLP/SLA versions respectively. These are the scales our contributing 3D artists upload their models in and sticking to which allow you to get optimum results after printing.
There won’t be any problems with scaling up since Gambody's models are very detailed and can be printed quite big. Just make sure that the parts of the model will fit the size of the print bed of the 3D printer you are going to use.
We normally do not recommend scaling the models down, because it may affect small details of the model (but in case you are using a DLP/SLA printer this won’t be critical since this technology is very good at printing small details). If some downscaling is needed though, you can change the scale in any slicing program that is compatible with your type of 3D printer. Don’t forget that scaling must be done proportionally for every part out of which the 3D printing model is assembled.
P.S. You should also know that when making a purchase on Gambody marketplace, you get not only STL files of a high-poly 3D printable model but also full technical support for it for life (included in the model’s price). If you want to have your model cut (or cut otherwise) for better printing, or you'd like some parts to be remodelled, or you want to get a better level of detail or hollow out the model to save material - you can always contact us, and we will do all these for you.
