The copyright on the digital file(s) is owned by the 3D artist who creates and uploads them to Gambody marketplace. The 3D artist’s rights only extend to the results of his/her own work, that is the digital designs prepared for 3D printing and saved in the form of STL files.
Gambody is essentially a place where fans of 3D printing get a chance to meet and share with each other the results of their work. There are 3D artists who use their skills and the advancement of the novel 3D printing technology to create unique digital designs from scratch, using well-known elements of the modern media culture for inspiration. They are saved and kept in the form of digital STL files which can be 3D printed on a 3D printer and are meant exclusively for personal use.
The 3D artists have all the rights to these STL files, as they are the results of their own work powered by fantasy and talent. Detailed License and Copyright information is here: https://gambody.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003246887-Copyright-and-License. 3D artists can give fellow 3D printing enthusiasts the permission to use the results of their work, also for personal use and not commercially profitable purposes. This is strictly controlled by Gambody. More information is here: https://gambody.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000238491-Regular-Permission-for-3D-Printing-Personal-Use.
It is only fair that 3D artists get a small compensation for the time and effort that they have put in the creation of these digital designs fully prepared and adapted for 3D printing. As for Gambody, our role is the facilitation of communication between 3D printing enthusiasts who create designs and who print them for personal use only. We also provide technical assistance and support to all kinds of 3D printing fans who have purchased our contributing 3D artists’ STL files on Gambody marketplace.
